NOTES: Mr. Austin is not a public figure but he does play a big role behind the scenes in the City of Aledo in regards to development. On NUMEROUS occasions via social media he has invited the public to sit down with THEM for a coffee and see what WE (1882, Cultivate, etc.) are doing. In our opinion he has made himself a public figure by speaking on behalf of the developers. For that, we believe that we the public should know more about Mr. Austin and how he and his Cultivate Aledo group is deciding for US what we DO and DO NOT need or want for business in Aledo.
He also seems to be one of the individuals leading the Cultivate Aledo bible studies on TUE.
Numerous property owners and elected city officials have been tied back to this bible study group and email chains.
Mr. Austin is NOT a resident of the City, instead he is a business owner. He was a resident at one time and was even a board member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Sources have shared that the then Planning and Zoning Commission did not agree with his ideologies and rumor has it that Mr. Austin was so frustrated that he quit the commission and moved out of the city.
He has found his way back in to push his ideas on the residents of Aledo.
Full disclosure, Mr. Austin has sent a couple of emails to RNS, they are basically the same that he has posted online and in short does not understand why we have a issue with a small group of people, including non citizens, deciding for us what we want. We have chosen not to respond as we feel this is a public matter because of the public funds involved. Additionally he seems to ignore the collusion taking place with the Mayor and the developers that Mr. Austin represents.
If Mr. Austin, the Mayor and members of City Council where a Private Cooperation with these ideas and following the law and not using the Mayors perceived powers we would have no issues.
